Episode 07: How to be an Effective Professional, Pt. 2
As we continue the #BackToTheBasicsSeries, this episode reviews areas 5 – 9 of effectiveness as a professional. When it comes to professionalism, there are some characteristics and skills that come easily to us while others don’t and in the same instance, there may be some that we simply just don’t consider. For example, how many times do we (intentionally) consider how collaborative we are with others? What about being a good listener? Are you actively mindful of how you’re receiving and interpreting what others are trying to communicate? This episode discusses the importance of being a good listener and being collaborative in addition to a few other areas. Here are the remaining items on the list:
- Be a Good Listener
- Be Collaborative
- Be Teachable
- Accountability
- Be Consistent
Being a good listener also ties into being solution minded, which was discussed more in depth in Pt. 1 (Episode 06, baproinc.com/ncn06).
Accountability was also mentioned briefly in this episode. For a better understanding of professional accountability, check out episode 05 baproinc.com/ncn05).
